PLDT MyDSL Review

May 4, 2012,
by Athena Jeunnesse Mae Tria9 Comments[zilla_likes]

I have been using PLDT MyDSL since December, and I never had a problem, maybe one but that one didn’t even last for an hour and I am not even sure if it’s with my internet connection. I love PLDT MyDSL. I am not an employee of PLDT so this will be not a bias review, and although I  was once part of a subsidiary company of PLDT, which is SPi Global (formerly ePLDT Ventus) this will not be a bias review, it will be a review from a mommy blogger who works at home.

I started with PLDT December, and I will say, boy, it was a wonderful experience. Since you are using a direct wired connection, your connection will not be intermittent, which means, you will not be signing in and out of your Skype or Facebook chat which happens to USB modem users. And what’s great about PLDT is that although they say you will have 1 MBPS, you can actually more than that, unlike their competitors, they advertise 1 MBPS, yes, you will not be getting a 1 mbs internet, but something much worse than 1MBPS. I have seen people posting their complaints in Facebook, some even have a speed of 0.03 KBPS. Good luck to what site that speed can browse! And what I hate about these USB or wireless connection is that your connections is intermittent, which means people see you signing in and out of IM’s even though you are not! This will be really frustrating for work at home online workers like me. But before we get on to that issue, just to prove that you can even actually get more than 1 MBPS internet speed with PLDT MyDSL, especially at night, see the picture below or this link: http://www.speedtest.net/result/1930651478.png

The test was taken a few hours ago, and imagine, it was already almost 2 MBPS, and most of the time, if I get lower than this, I get 1.07 MBPS, but rarely lower than 1 MBPS. This is what I call getting what you paid for.

You may have seen bad reviews about PLDT, some of it may be true, but for me, PLDT will be the best internet connection in the Philippines, after all, they are the first in the landline and internet, which makes them a pro to this. I wonder why some people are making bad reviews about them when PLDT actually offers a good service, in fact, excellent service! They are probably just insecure people or they just had a bad experience because they were not a good customer too. Anyway, I don’t want that to be a part of my review. PLDT may be expensive but you get what you pay for.

For work at home online workers like me, especially call center jobs, or jobs that are not writing jobs, you would really need a good connection. If you can relate to what I am talking about right now (you probably can if you are a follower of my blog.) online jobs, if it is writing or graphic jobs, you may not actually require you to have a good internet connection, but boy, if you are working as a virtual assistant, customer service representative, etc, you NEED a good internet connection. And USB modem really won’t work and I have experienced it. Last week was really a hassle for me. Why? Because my PLDT service was interrupted because of unpaid bills, and since I have no choice since I cannot pay the bills at the moment, I had to use a USB modem. Boy, it was the worst internet speed ever! Worst experience! It has really sabotage my online work, and online reputation. I was working on two contracts and one of it almost got ended because of my internet connection. Boy, my client was really furious! You pay for like 100 Pesos for unlimited internet for 3 days, yes it is unlimited alright, but a very bad connection if you are working, you cannot rely on this; you can use it for browsing, but for working or watching online, no way! So going back, paying for 100 pesos or more depending on what provider you use, unlimited for 3 days, compute it to 30 days, you would be paying for about 1000 pesos a month, and PLDT MyDSL is 999. So why waste money on an internet connection if the service is like that? You are paying the same or more, but the service really sucks, right? Although of course, you have to have a landline if you want to have DSL, that will be 600, but for me, it’s really worth it. If you may be using the provider that will charge you 50 pesos for one day unlimited, you are still saving money in choosing PLDT. I don’t want to sabotage my job again because of that kind of service. I really wasted on that USB connection. It almost made my family hungry because of internet.

So if you are really looking f0r a good internet connection, “I HIGLY RECOMMEND PLDT MYDSL” I am giving them 10 out of 10 stars for my review with regard to their overall service, kudos to you PLDT!

I was just deciding if I should shift from the Smart Bro I have now (so used to its slow speed) to PLDT MyDSL when I saw this recommendation from you. I hope to make the right decision.

“They are probably just insecure people or they just had a bad experience because they were not a good customer too.”

This is a very stupid reason. Why would people be insecure if the service is good? Bad reviews come from bad service. Swerte ka lang na maganda serbisyo mo.

PLDT might give out fast internet connection. But their service is really poor. It takes them more than a week to get to their customers and patch up a connection. Even when you remind them day after day.
