If you go into any big mall in a large Filipino city, you’ll find an Apple store. Inside, you’ll discover some of the most glamorous and coveted smartphones on the market.
But are they worth the eye-watering price tags? Well, that’s what we’re about to find out. While Oppo and other manufacturers excel at making affordable phones, many regard Apple as the best.
Why iPhones Rock
iPhones were mainly made for the Western market. But they also come in handy for us, too.
Seamless Integration
Once you have an Apple iPhone, it will work seamlessly with the rest of the Apple ecosystem. That means that it will pair with your tablet, Mac, or ear pods without you having to fiddle around with any complicated settings. You can organize your life from a set of devices connected via the cloud, making everything so much more straightforward.
Timely Updates
You also get timely updates when using an iPhone. Apple is incredibly active and keen to ensure that all its users have access to its latest and most secure software.
Strong Performance
Apple iPhones also have reasonable performance levels. The manufacturer equips them with standard components that complement its operating system, helping it eke out more power without relying on state-of-the-art equipment.
User-Friendliness
There’s also the user-friendliness aspect. While Oppo phones require a steep learning curve (not to mention some frustration), Apple avoids this by making its products as usable as possible. Anyone can start using them straight away. Devices’ responses to user inputs are snappy and realistic. Screens respond to subtle touches.
Control
Finally, Apple gives you massive control as a user. You can use your iPhone how you want. You’re not controlled by spyware or bloatware.
You can also delete cookies on iPhone models by going into settings. This way, you can avoid your memory getting eaten up and trackers following everything you do online.
Why iPhones Might Not Be The Best For You
Of course, there are some reasons why iPhones might not be the best choice for you.
The Cost
The major barrier is the cost. You can easily wind up paying more than 60K for an iPhone, with some of the newer models going for more than 100K with added memory. That’s a lot of money, even if you have professional work or a management role.
Less Customization
You also have to deal with the lack of customization once you get into the iPhone system. Apple makes its devices straightforward to use, but that comes at the cost of flexibility. Everything is done for you, which is a blessing and a curse. You won’t get the same level of customization or optionality as you might with a conventional Android or open-source phone.
Low Storage
The final bugbear is the low storage of many iPhones. Even some new models will only give you 64GB, which isn’t enough for many of us. If you plan on taking pictures and storing them on your device, you’ll want at least a 128GB model. And this can push up the price significantly.
